Commitment to Community Journalism

Amundson’s journalism career spans 51 years. His roles at various newspapers, including the Loveland Reporter-Herald, Longmont Times-Call and BizWest, were marked by his commitment to community journalism.
He defines community journalism as living and working in the community being served, researching and writing about the issues that affect that community, and working to make the community a better place.
Amundson, who lives in Loveland with his wife JoEllen, is a parent of two adult children who work in the health care sector. He’s also the grandparent of four.
He retired in May 2024 from his role as managing editor of BizWest, the business journal in Northern Colorado. He was inducted into the Colorado Press Association Hall of Fame in August 2024.
